I've been playing bass for years. It wasn't until 2025 that I tried Magma bass strings. Boy, was I pleasantly surprised. I did order two sets however. I did this because I wanted a set of nickel strings for my 5-string bass with the .62 and .42 D & G strings but I could only find these in a four string set. So I ordered the 4 string set, along with the 5-string set containing .125, .100, .80, .60, .40.
I then pulled the .125 and combined it with the 4-string set containing 100, 80, .62, & .42. For me, this special, SIGNATURE, Mike Jennings designed .125, .100, .80, .62, .42 is the PERFECT 5-string set. I hope one day Magma follows my lead and CREATES this fantastic new balanced 5-string set for ALL to enjoy. I hope to try this one day soon with their stainless steel strings too. Thanks Magma, I love your strings!
